Birchmount Bluffs Neighborhood Center – First Steps

My Opinion:

I’ve been going to this center on and off for the last year.  Both my son and I have always been made welcome.  The sessions are held in a large hall, with many toys and areas for your child to play in.  Due to its size you never feel crowded, and younger kids have space to play in, with out being trampled by larger ones.  Every session they have a circle time at 10:00 followed by a small snack, normally fruit and biscuits.

Other Services:

Once per month a community nurse visits to answer you questions.  They get other specialists in on different areas of raising your children, such as diet, and dental hygiene.  The specialists, like the community nurse are there to answer your questions, and provide pointers when asked.

Events:

Through out the year they hold regular events, based on seasonal activities.  These normally entail some form of potluck.  With in the summer break that host two park trips, which are free to all to attend.

Notes:

  • The family membership covers you for other activities, such as Yoga.
  • As the venue is a public hall, the floor does get a little dusty, and both children and adults have to wear shoes.
